"Snake Lore" is officially (re)released today on the Rage of Achilles label!

From Abdullah:

"We're entering the studio in a few weeks to begin recording our debut full-length for MeteorCity records. The CD is tentatively titled "Wading in Dark Water," and will contain 7 new songs along with 4 others from prior demos... adding up to well over an hours worth of material. If all goes smoothly, the record should be released sometime this fall. Also, our last demo, "Snake Lore," has been given an official release by England's Rage of Achilles records. The CD will be released later this month and will/should be available online at Rage of Achilles, WaterDragon Records, MeteorCity, Brainticket, High Beam and a few others. If anyone needs more info on how to order a copy, give me a holler. We're also scheduled to appear on the upcoming Pink Floyd tribute that The Music Cartel will be releasing early next year. We went back a few years and decided to cover "Fearless."

From Roadburn News for May 1,2000:

ABDULLAH SIGNED TO METEORCITY

Abdullah has signed with the Meteor City! Their debut CD with the New Mexico based label should be out by September 2000. The band is currently working on new material and plans to head into Suma Sound Recording (where such legends as Grand Funk Railroad, Bloodrock and Pere Ubu spawned their greatest works) in early June. The new material continues on in the same vein as where "Snake Lore" left off, but with a better produced and more psychedelic sound. Abdullah vocalist/drummer Jeff Shirilla had this to say: "We're totally exicted that we've earned the opportunity to work with such a respected label as MeteorCity. We've been fans of all of the material that's been released on that label and to become a part of their roster is a dream come true. We're totally exicted to be able to unleash our brand of emotional stoner/doom on such a reputable label and on a worldwide basis."

In other exciting news, the official release of Abdullah's "Snake Lore" demo on England's Rage of Achilles label hits the streets this June. The CD will be available in stores worldwide and on the internet via sites like www.meteorcity.com and www.brainticket.com.

From Meteorcity:

In addition to our long-publicized 2000 releases (The Quill, Eternal Elysium, Solace, Slave to the Power, and the forthcoming Lowrider: Ode to Io and I Am Vengeance CDs), were in the process of signing two awesome new bands that we are certain will have a huge impact on the scene. We hope to have an album out from Abdullah by the end of the year. Stoner Rock Rules! (through reviewer Mike Knecht of Warhorse) writes, "Without hesitation or doubt I can say that Abdullah are one of the best bands Ive heard in a while. "You really have to hear this thing to really appreciate what Im saying... no question Jeff and Alan are producing some of the most interesting, honest and well written doom inspired heavy rock around." Were very, very proud to be able associated with these guys, and were also amazed that weve been able to keep finding so much great music. Abdullahs Snake Lore demo, which has gotten rave reviews at a host of sites, will be released in a limited edition on the Rage of Achilles label. We encourage you to check it out once it reaches our All Thats Heavy section, if you havent already obtained a copy through the demo-trading rounds.

From Roadburn News for March 8,2000:

ABDULLAH'S SNAKE LORE

The London, England based label Rage of Achilles (home to Alabama sludge-rockers Molehill) have decided to give Abdullah's "Snake Lore" demo an official release. Obviously the recording and artwork for the release already exists, so it shouldn't be long at all before the CD hits the streets. "We're extremely pleased and excited to work with Rage, and can't wait to have international distribution and label support for "Snake Lore", says Abdullah's Jeff. Check out the Rage of Achilles website at http://www.rageofachilles.clara.net in the coming weeks for more info, and also stop by the official Abdullah site at http://web.raex.com/~aseibert/abdullah.htm.

"In other fantastic news, we have signed with another incredible label that will release a brand new Abdullah CD in late 2000. We'll be announcing just who the label is in the VERY near future. Also, the 8 band compilation CD "The Mob's New Plan" from Water Dragon Records (http://www.multimania.com/waterdragonrds) featuring 2 songs from Abdullah is slated for an April release (I've heard the promo and it rules! All of the featured bands are phenomenal).

Snake Lore is featured as Album of the Month at the Brainticket Records web site.

Here's what they have to say:

A really nice surprise here. Totally unknown but producing a set of tunes that are as mesmerizing as they are heavy. Ok - this is actually a "demo" CD but the sound quality is good and most importantly it showcases the bands ability to write stunning songs. Choice vocals that soothe and soar over the heavy layered tar geetar. No fear from these lads on showing diversity either - total doom and gloom, groove Soundgarden style, blues it out, melodic sections. Its got it all - and you need it brothers and sisters.

The new demo "Snake Lore" should be out in the weeks to come. All the songs have been recorded and are awaiting mastering. The songs will be mastered to cd at SUMA recording studio in Painesville, OH by the mighty Paul Hamann (where such luminaries as Pere Ubu, Bloodrock, and Grand Funk Railroad spawned their greatest works).

The band also has plans to release a 7" with two new songs, hopefully by Christmas. Whether this is going to be done by the band themselves or handled by an indie label is still up in the air.
