Accolades for Chopping Machine
Colour Haze's first cd from way back in 1995.
Ive heard people cite elements of Pink Floyd or the Doors in their sound, but I also hear elements of jazz, eastern music, and classical, not to mention some of the minimalist/trance feel of 70s era Tangerine Dream. But what I really like is the way they mix these elements into something very much their own, a personal vision that just makes sense.
Most of their stuff could easily be compared to Monster Magnet if you were quick to make a decision that is, but the truth is that their sound is Yes tuned down low, and Yes sludgy and bluesy, and YES psychedelic, but they have a real jam sense. Real Desert sound, and the tones are amazing. The guitars just really sing or scream, depends on how you look at it.
