Accolades for Inferno
After 12 years, these Swedes still have it and manage to pull some punches that are as fresh and exciting as ever. The band is in top form and is still developing and reinventing itself, which is something I never thought they'd achieve after Nicke Andersson left. The album is pretty dynamic as the band seems to have incorporated the slower Slayer-esque breakdowns into their sound. The abrasive punk death n' roll style abounds on most of the songs. Vocally, L-G Petrov is still venemous as ever. Other than Satan, the lyrical content is traditional Entombed--disinterest and disgust in general society. The bass is more prominent on this one, which renders the dirty, ripping guitar tone a bit less prominent. The band seems to be exploring and expanding their ideas and ideals better than on any of their past releases.
