Accolades for Epistemological Despondency
The sound redefines heaviness and slowness. The vocals are a low slow rumble, like a 78 played at LP speed. In fact this sums up the whole sound. If this was a vinyl release, I'd think I had it on the wrong speed! There are plenty of drug influenced effects to be found, so it's not all sumo wrestler riffs. I enjoyed this a lot, if "enjoy" is an apt word to describe a positive reaction to this. I had to keep telling myself that this was real, that a band had managed to do this. I didn't think it was possible to be this extreme! If you think that you've heard the heaviest and slowest noise that the world has to offer, and you've not heard this... Ian of Death to Dead Things
Esoteric is considered by many to be the epitome of true doom. There are no fancy keyboards, no female vocals, and no songs sung to a lost love. It's just pure, brutal, drug-influenced, slooooow doom. Play it loud enough, and the sound will literally push you down to the ground. The vocals are these processed screams that are almost impossible to understand, which is a pity, since the lyrics are truly depressing and thought-provoking.
Esoteric specialize in doing sloooooow Doom. They play like early Cathdral with massive doses of valium. I mean, I fell asleep before the second beat of the first track.
