Accolades for Transition
Magnified Eyes Transition was recorded in 2003 but kept on a shelf somewhere until late 2005. Its a shame, as its a good album thats got plenty working for it. First up is the singing. Torben Egebjerg is a rarity a singer who can really belt out a vocal line. It gives the faster paced numbers a sense of urgency, and gives some dramatic heft to songs like Drain the Lizard. Id say hes almost John Garcia-esque. The other noteworthy aspect of Transition is the playing. I really dug the almost jammy Songs of Sweet Disease, with its various percussive instruments and boogie-down harmonica. They stretch out the album with a number of brief, acoustic-like interludes that showcase the bands willingness to stretch the boundaries of rock. Transition is solid, traditional stoner rock with enough twists to keep the average fan interested and hopefully gain some new fans as well.
