Fans of bands such as Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, EyeHateGod, Acid Bath and Soilent Green all know that familiar and great taste of New Orleans style-metal. It is truly amazing and jawdropping, not to mention damn addictive. Hearing that the members of some above bands comprised Down, I figured this cd would be fair, yet not a match to the aforementioned greats. I was dead wrong. I would say this album is greater than the other band's works. Kicking this album off is Temptations Wings, a true opener in every sense, as Phil Anselmo's screams are matched with competent guitar playing from Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein and great drumming from EHG's Jim Bower. The songs continue in aweing fashion, not always heavy, but very well performed.
