Accolades for Split CD
Dark, slow, slithering, strangely hypnotic, Acid King merges the fuzz of stoner-rock with the mood of doom, and demolishes any qualms about the apocalypse with the throaty, condemning vocals of Lori S. Joseph. The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight's plain and simple heavy rock mastery and laid-back swamp-swing is complemented by Wino's (Spirit Caravan) powerful, emotive vocals.
First up is Acid King, with four crushing tunes. It starts out with the instrumental Blaze In. This song sets the tone for the remainder of AK's set - slow, sludgy and heavy with a capital H. One song in particular, Four Minutes, is absolutely punishing. Then you have the more upbeat, swamp rock of the MKOC. But unlike their debut LP, these two songs (Buzzard Hill (My Backyard) and Veiled features vocals - courtesy of the legendary Scott (Wino) Weinrich. Needless to say, Wino is in top form and the MKOC crank out their most Purplesque tunes to date.
