Accolades for Self Titled
Fuck, yes! This takes everything that was so enjoyable from Entombed during the Uprising-era and kicks it in the balls with some vicious punk tempos and plenty of attitude in the bargain. Being dubbed pretty much as a sludge core outfit, Hot n Steamy Monkey Love are just that but are way more to the point (read: faster) and perhaps a tad more on the lighter side of things. The lighter side shows through in some of the hilarious samples that are being used. The songs are catchy as shit. The fact that almost every song has at least one or two things that sets it apart from the rest surely helps. The recording sounds like a zillion bucks, just thick and dense and without the feedback and often painful treble that you're used to hearing from other so called sludge outfits. Surprising how tempting it is to play this record over and over, if it's done right this stuff never gets old.
Since blasphemy goes way beyond cyclops-midgets sodomizing unicorns and male strippers in the gardens of Eden, HSML was forged in the flames of punk, metal and violent rock to spread the gospel of the goat upon mankind like sonic wings of pestilence. Protected by the gods of rock, HSML gave birth to a brand of sludge 'n' roll that combines the burning hearts and spirit of those who went to battle before them, while staying true to a sound they can call their own.
Influenced by the likes of Iron Monkey, Entombed and Motorhead, their crusade for heavy-ass rock marches on, through the barren wastelands surrounded by liars, thieves and leeches who claim to be rock. And while venomous skulls rain from the blood red skies, rabid chants can be heard through the night, over a wall of thundering steamy-drums and roaring monkey-amps paying their respect to the glorious gods of Rock. Marching through on their quest for rock-supremacy, while clenched fists are thrown to sludge-laden grooves and nutsack-shattering D-beats that provide the soundtrack to the apocalypse of mankind.
