Accolades for Self Titled
Pearls & Brass is a band of top notch players churning out their own take on the Stoner Rock thing. They combine pure soul swamp blues with 70's classic rock goodness with a tinge of progressive tendencies from time to time. If you like the soul guitar style rock of Hendrix, Blue Oyster Cult and Deep Purple crossed with a bit of King Crimson, then check into Pearls & Brass.
What we have is superbluesy Drunk Horse-style hard rock. With a barrage of slithering guitar riffs that rivals the hyperactivity of the best Eyehategod stuff and a vocal style that sounds like a more sedate version of the guy who sang for Cactus, this self-titled album works when the songs simply rock. There's no other way to put it. It has nice, clean production too, so you can turn it up really loud. Then there are all these acoustic tracks that break up the heaviness. They have the same feel as "Fluff," from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, another good sign.
From the far reaches on Nazareth, PA come Pearls and Brass who will kick you in the teeth with their Grand Funk, bong bass laden concoction of Rock.
