Invaders is a killer compilation, especially considering roughly half the songs were previously unreleased. Youve got acts like Black Mountain, Witch, Witchcraft, and Parchman Farm who delve heavily into 70s classic rock, making them the modern day equivalents of Elvis Costello by way of Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and Cactus, among others. Elsewhere, bands like Saviors, The Fucking Champs, and Night After Night mainline classic metal and hard rock from the 80s. Wolfmother and Comets on Fire lay down some fierce garage rock, Pelican continues to indulge in their progressive rock whims, and Torche lays down a wall of pounding, grooving heavy. For people wanting to get their feet wet with whats new and killer, look no further than this album.
