Accolades for Graveyard of Your Mind
All ingredients to make me completely lose my mind are present here. This New York band, rather confusingly named both Kreisor and Aytobach Kreisor, makes some kind of primal stoner rock with references to the seventies. Sounds that I know from bands like Hawkwind, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Widow and even The Doors' cover "Waiting For The Sun" in a neo-psychedellic atmosphere I cant get tired of.
One of the big things I like about 'em is how they mix fairly crushing riffs with an overall laidback, mellow vibe. They remind me a lot of an old DC band called The Crippled Pilgrims.
I have heard hype regarding Aytobach Kreisor (who have shortened their name recently to just Kreisor) and all of it was good comment after comment. These guys have a simple stoner tried but true groove to them that switches between simple bass lines based runs and fabricated psychedelic tinged with pop. Their guitars are warm and fuzzy, reminding me at times of Eddie Glass simplistic blues approach. Other times, it reminds me of pop style chord arrangements and simple formulas. If you like late 80's Rush crossed with Radiohead and Swervedriver, check out these guys. I can see why a good handful of people who listen to stoner rock would like them.
