Accolades for Self Titled
Witch falls distinctly in the stoner rock category. Take Seer, for instance. The central riff is one of those classics from the 70s full of fuzzy tone, a Sabbathy groove thats pretty much timeless, ethereal vocals (think Dead Meadow but less shrill), and an outro that has the perfect amount of build up and release (wait for that bass line to kick in). Its stoner rock in all of its shaggy, head shaking glory. Theres a strong undercurrent of psychedelia underneath the lumbering, doomy riffs. This hits all the right spots. It's a familiar sound, but it still has a distinct identity. Recommended.
This one is a keeper. REALLY retro sounding, think Blue Cheer, think Pentagram, think Budgie, think Sabbath. Think layers of oozing fuzz and monolithic drumming. Think psychedelic freakouts, feedback and flanging. And of course the eerie vocals to top it all off. Strong debut from a band of vets with a lot of promise.
