Half Man Vs Mothercake (Swe) - Vol 1

This EP was meant to be in this section but somehow I managed to forgot but here is a review of this EP featuring 2 bands out of rkelljunga down under in Sweden south I mean.

Half Man has already made quite a name for themselves with the release of their monumental first album The Complete field guide for cynics. A bluesbased acid trip with a groove that is similar to the early Mountain albums. The band informed me that the next album, which will come out early next year, would be even heavier. This EP anyway came out last year. I was informed that there isn't too many copies left, it was pressed originally in just 400 copies so hurry if you want to have a copy.

Starting with Half Man on the first side. The track Red Herring has already been released on the US Underdogma compilation. A heavy doom laden psyched out track that is actually a bit different to the album. References to cult bands like Stray, Sir Lord Baltimore and early Grand Funk is very clear. Next up is Acid Park a short instrumental as filler another early 70s tripper.

Next band here is Mothercake that are different sounding to Half Man. 2 tunes here: Fists of Fury and Baglady. References to early Rush and early Sabbath are clear. Of the 2 in there are Baglady.

The winner in this battle is Half Man but Mothercake is not too far behind. As said there isn't many copies left but you can always contact Half Man for more info of how to get a hold of this EP at their official homesite.
