Priestess Premieres Brand New Song
Posted by: Arzgarth on 11/19/2009 3:44:56 PM

Electrifying hard rock band PRIESTESS has posted the lead track from its wildly-anticipated new album, Prior to the Fire, online via SPIN. “It`s been three years since fire-breathing quartet Priestess released their last album, 2006`s Hello Master,” says SPIN of the band. “Now they`re back, and if new track `Ladykiller` is any indication, the Montrealers want blood.” Check out the “thrashy tale of revenge against a serial killer, highlighted by some seriously slicing guitar solos and precise riffing” now at this location.

Prior to the Fire will hit stores on February 2, 2010 via NYC’s Tee Pee Records. The Montreal-based group’s sophomore album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer David Schiffman (SYSTEM OF A DOWN, MARS VOLTA, NINE INCH NAILS) and underlines PRIESTESS’ hard-hitting songwriting, memorable hooks and earth-shaking ability to rock. With a sound built upon a resolute sense of purpose and shaped by hundreds of explosive live shows, PRIESTESS’ Prior to the Fire is an electric recording, bringing to light a colorful pool of both creativity and innovation. The record’s majestic power merges titanic riffs, memorable metal, progressive rock and hard psych elements with the powerful, expressive vocals of frontman/guitarist Mikey Heppner to create an album that will floor heavy music fans.

“It wasn’t the easiest record to make,” says Heppner. “But the hard work definitely paid off and we’re really, really proud of the end result. We’ve done so much touring and seen so much since our first record that it only galvanized our feelings of what the band is. The songs that make up Prior to the Fire were meant to be heard live and loud. We can’t wait to get out on tour again and really do them justice!”

In celebration of Prior to the Fire and its new label home, PRIESTESS has announced December, 2009 U.S. tour dates, giving fans a chance to hear the new songs previous to the release of the new record. The jaunt will include a December 12 show in Brooklyn, NY as well as stops in Seattle (December 5), Chicago (December 9) and more. A full listing of upcoming PRIESTESS U.S. tour dates follows this message.

Formed in 2003, PRIESTESS has consistently garnered top notch praise for its dynamic sound and monstrous modern rock. The band has toured incessantly since its inception, sharing stages the world over with friends and peers such as Mastodon, THE SWORD, CONVERGE, DINOSAUR JR. and MOTÖRHEAD. The band’s song “Lay Down” is currently featured in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and the new song “Raccoon Eyes” (from Prior to the Fire) appears on the soundtrack to the wildly popular EA Sports game NHL 10.

In addition to Heppner, PRIESTESS features Dan Watchorn (guitar, backing vocals), Mike Dyball (bass) and Vince Nudo (drums, percussion, backing vocals).
