Indian – The Unquiet Sky Review by John Pegoraro (StonerRock.com) Seventh Rule Recordings Release date: Fall 2005 The other day, while browsing through the ever-growing pile of CDs to be reviewed, I chanced upon this disc. It would’ve been easy to miss it – there was no jewel case or digipak, nor was there any promotional material. Just a CD marked “Indian,” housed in a plain paper sleeve. Such simplicity is fitting for this album, which I’m assuming is The Unquiet Sky, based on the fact that it’s not only the sole 11 song album referenced on their website, but the only full length they’ve released. Aside from the electronic squeals, pips, and effects that are scattered about (and clustered on “Loophole Noose”), this is stripped down hate doom, very much akin to their late Chicago brethren Buried at Sea or Portland, Maine’s Ocean. The forays into southern sludge grooves and the occasional faster pace (like the train wreck in waiting sound of “Los Nietos” or “Tied and Gagged”) add some color as well. Like most bands of this nature, it takes awhile for the full effect of Indian to sink in. It’s a massive sound, almost confrontational in nature. Fans of this s t y l e of music will be raving about this one for awhile.

I listened to all my Indian mp3s yesterday, including the amazing live shit from Madison, and I have to say these guys kill - there's something really unique and completely oppressive about what they do. Can't wait to pick this up and would love to see them in Youngstown next May.

According to Indian's latest MySpace bulletin (and now reflected in my release schedule thread) the release date for this is Sep 27.

"Fans of this s t y l e of music will be raving about this one for awhile"
that sounds like your gussied up way of saying "I hate this shit, but some of you retards are bound to like it". Is that the jist?

We now have this available for mailorder through the Seventh Rule site. We should have it to the rest of the retail world in the next month... s

That video is fucking AWESOME. For fans of EYEHATEGOD, Grief, etc. Check out 'Worshipper of Sores' on their MySpace page as well. Just ordered the album on the strength of those 2 songs, I'll post my review after I give it a listen.

Yeah, I've ordered my copy too on the strength of the mp3s I've managed to grab over the last year. Wish Dog Soldier was on the record.

This is a dense, dense record...not the kind of thing you can throw on once and have a handle on. Good stuff, but I need to get my head around it before I post a real review. Can't get the riff for track 2 out of my head.
