One Eye Shut – Promo 2004
Review by Punk (StonerRock.com)
Self release demo
Available now

This right here is a three song demo from Finnish One Eye Shut. If you’re in a band and ever lay your hands on it let it serve you as an example of how to not make your demo – start it with a crappy song. The package is well done to introduce a fresh band, but from out of three songs, why start it with the one that will make majority of people with any taste in music turn it off? Due to this song, “Tonight,” I almost dismissed the whole band. But the next two tracks saved them. They were not half bad. Actually there was an honest attempt to rock with heavy riffing and whiskey drenched vocals. The sound belongs to more southern parts of rock chasing in the dust of Alabama Thunderpussy and Halfway to Gone. At times you can catch some hooks and passages that are well thought up and executed. The instruments can certainly hit the right notes; vocals can hit the right… beer.

The band still needs to develop, but if those two tracks are any indication they have the capability. Just as long as they drop the first song; it just doesn’t show their good side.
