Malossi - First Bore
Review by: Rob Wrong (StonerRock.com)
3 song EP
Release date: Available now

Malossi's little three song demo bounces all over the stoner map somewhat...they have driving riffs that remind me of the same kind of high energy guitar rock of Aussie bands and more. You can tell they like the heavy sounds of Sleep and the busy rocking of Fu Manchu alike. Good 3 song short but sweet demo.

Even though Malossi's high energy sound is tight, it's all pretty normal stoner rock riffs. These guys are obviously about rocking out. It's definitely more rock and roll than your average stoner rock band, and I think the vocals have a lot to do with that. They are strong, slightly gritty with awesome melody lines and cool overdubbed vocal melodies. Nicely done.

Most of the riffs are driving rock s t y l ed, but from time to time the guitars do that sort of Josh Homme s t y l e desert run reminiscent of Sky Valley era Kyuss. Not that these guys sound like Kyuss though...this stuff is desert influenced rock and roll more than anything.

Keep your eye on Malossi, I am sure that they have some good stuff in store for us in the future. Quite a surprise by the time you get to the end. Filing this one near the Mammoth Volume collection.
