Fuzztub - Boon
Review by John Pegoraro (StonerRock.com)
Evil Media
Release date: 2007

According to their bio, Fuzztub was one of Ohio's greater “almost was” bands of the 90's, packing it in before the turn of the century, leaving only an EP to their name. An EP I have no familiarity with, so figuring out whether Boon's a return to form or a whole new ball of ear wax is someone else's job. On it's own, this reunion EP is a solid right hook of muscular hard rock that keeps it simple and to the point, much like early Alabama Thunderpussy (not just with the guttural riffs, either - vocalist/guitarist Bob D has a Johnny Throckmorton-like delivery). The title track kicks this off with a non-fussy stoner groove and they maintain that high up until “Sparky,” the sole track that falls flat. But six out of seven songs ain't that bad a return, especially since the band apparently knocked this ugly bastard out in less than a week.
